I have a really good chili recipe, but it is beanless. It uses turkey instead of hamburger so it is normally cheaper and less fat.
You do need to brown the meat on the stove top first.
1 1/2 lbs ground turkey
2 TBS olive oil
1 TBS Cumin
2 1/2 TBS chili powder
1 tsp Garlic Salt
1 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp red pepper flakes
Brown meat with olive oil and spices
1 red onion diced (any onion will work)
4 plum tomatoes diced
15 oz can tomato sauce
2 TBS hot sauce
1/4 cup water (or stout beer if preferable) (I've never made it with the beer but this is and option depending on your taste)
2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 cup brown sugar
Add your cooked turkey and let cook on low all day, or high if you don't get it done till noon.
A double batch fills a 4 qt. crock pot.
This is a sweet and spicy chili that everyone has loved any where I take it. I never have leftovers. A few people will complain that without beans it is not chili, but most love it.
